Vaporesso is a renowned Chinese manufacturer dedicated to establishing a smoke-free world, and you can see this from the numerous vape devices that they have released over the years. Some of which include the Target Mini 2, Luxe, Polar, Armour Pro, the original GEN, and this GEN S. Ever since its release, vapers everywhere have been eager to know whether or not the new GEN S Kit would live up to the Vaporesso legacy.
The GEN S is a sleek and lightweight dual 18650 battery mod that is rated at 220W. GEN S Kit comes together with the famous NRG-S sub-ohm tank that offers cross-compatibility across the entire Vaporesso GT coil range, as well as SMOK Baby Beast coils (which means it would also be compatible with even more coils). One of the highlights of the GEN S is the upgraded AXON chipset that overcomes learning curves so even a beginner would not have any issues getting accustomed to the settings. It also comes with a default Pulse Mode that amplifies the flavor output and regulates the temperature of the vapor.

The Gen S Design and Build
If you have used the original GEN, you can easily see a lot of similarities in their design. The GEN S is mostly rectangular, featuring curved side panels that add to the ergonomic feel. The device measures 90mm x 53mm x 30mm without the NRG-S tank installed, and it weighs in at 107g making it an average lightweight mod. The body of the GEN S is made with a mix of different layers: a layer of fire-resistant polycarbonate, 4-times premium quality, wear-proof metal spray, and a breathing rubber coating on the outside that is fingerprint-proof
The GEN S sports a 0.91-inch OLED screen on its front face. The OLED screen is significantly clearer and brighter than the one on the original GEN. There is still the single fire button, three adjustment buttons, and a micro USB port that features 2.5A quick charge, allowing you to power the batteries in about 60 minutes.
Centred at the top is a gold plated 510 connection that is slightly raised to protect the top of the GEN S. The 510 connection can accommodate the NRG-S tank and any other tank, even tanks up to 26mm in diameter without any overhang. There is a standard magnetic door that opens up to the battery tray. The magnets are one of the most secure ways to keep the battery door closed since they do not shake.
Vaporesso prides themselves in the suite of features that their vape devices deliver, and the GEN S is just the same. The GEN S is a powerhouse that delivers a suite of features and modes that every enthusiastic vaper would have fun with. You can access all of the features of the GEN S in the menu section.
With the GEN S, you have Pulse Mode, Power Eco, Smart TC, and DIY Mode. In DIY mode you can choose the standard modes of Power (with normal, hard, and soft preheats), Temp Control (SS, Ni200, Ti, and one TCR memory slot), Voltage Mode, Watt Curve Mode, Bypass Mode, and Super Player Mode. Also in the settings menu is Smart and Auto modes.
The NRG-S Sub-Ohm Tank
The NRG sub-ohm tank comes with a bubble glass that can contain a generous 8ml of ejuice, enough so you do not have to worry about constantly refilling. There is also a 5ml straight glass in the kit. The tank comes with two coils from the GT coil lineup: the GT Meshed Coil, and the GT4 Meshed Coil.
Both of the coils are airy but produce excellent flavor and vapor. You just have to tweak around with the airflow until you find your sweet spot. The adjustable airflow has some knurling on it that helps with your grip. There is a stopper that allows you to close it completely.
The coils screw into the base of the NRG-S sub-ohm tank. You first remove the base of the tank and unscrew the coil. You should note that you need to empty your ejuice tank before you can remove or replace the coils.
The NRG-S tank features a standard wide bore 510 Delrin drip tip at its top that is rather plain. Also, there is a top-fill mechanism that is pretty simple to use. You just need to turn the top cap to expose a large fill hole, this should make refilling a breeze.
In the end, the GEN S lives up to the Vaporesso legacy. The GEN S would make an excellent choice especially if you do not already have the original GEN. The GEN S might arguably be one of the best vapes 2020 had to offer.
